7During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. - Hebrews 5:7
Jesus’ prayers were heard because of his “reverent submission.”
When we pray selfish prayers it reveals a lack of trust in God. Submitting our lives to God requires that we trust Him completely. A prayer life that is characterized by reverence and submissions begins with an understanding of who God is, and the love that He has for us. (“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” - Rom. 8:28)
