"In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse deceiving and being deceived."
2 Timothy 312-13
Is your desire is "to live a godly life in Christ Jesus"? If so you will find yourself travelling against the grain of our culture which is rapidly moving in the opposite direction. Therefore we must expect that at times our life will clash with the culture and evoke a negative reaction from those who do not value our godliness.
If we never find ourselves at odds with the culture then we may be moving in the wrong direction. Jesus said, "Woe to you when all men speak well of you..." (Luke 6:26). The promise of persecution is not one that we cherish and quote often to encourage one another. Yet we need to be aware of the cost of godliness and ready at any cost "to live a godly life in Christ Jesus."
Father, help me to live a truly godly life in Christ Jesus never shying away from paying a price for devotion to my Savior and Lord.
I'm praying for you.
