Basic Requirment: Total Transformation

Romans 12:1-2a
"Therefore I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Paul has transitioned in the letter from the theological perspective to the practical side of a Christian life. Paul encourages us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice to God. One may ask why? Paul gives us the answer, because of God's mercy. We don't need to forget the ulitmate sacrifice that was made on the cross. I think to many times I tend to take what happened on the cross for granted and get comfortable in my walk with Christ. Sacrifice is a word that I don't want to hear, yet Paul reminds us that we should be continually offering our lives as an act of spiritual worship to God who has redemmed us by His grace. When we continually offer ourselves, we are transformed by the Holy Spirit. What does this transformed mind look like? Re-read Romans 12:9-17, Paul gives us a glimpse in these verses.

Father, my prayer is that you would transform me. I confess that I am weak and not able to do this on my own. Help me to understand how to offer my body as a living sacrifice that is pleasing to you.

  1. Good Morning Pastor Mark,
Indeed when we are reminded of the awesome price God's Son paid for our salvation and ultimate reconciliation to our Father, there is nothing on this earth that deserves our worship. I agree with you, "Lord, please remind me often of the price of your Only begotten Son. I Love my heavenly Father so dearly and I'm so glad that He remains faithful. LOve in Christ Francie
