Victory in Jesus

"What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Romans 7:24-25

Under the dominion of the sinful nature we are unable to change our ways and do the good we want to do and know that we should do. We are unable to "rescue" ourselves from the death that sin brings. We are helpless. But there is One who can rescue us from this death! There is One who can empower me to do the good I want to do! It is Jesus Christ alone who has conquered sin and death and is able to conquer them in our life. In Christ I am not a helpless victim of sin but I am a victor over sin.

Father, thanks be to you for the rescue from sin's dominion and curse through Jesus Christ. Help to live as a victor over sin through the power of Jesus Christ rather than a victim of sin.

I'm praying for you.

  1. Good Morning Pastor Mark,
The passage this morning is a sobering reminder that there is no good thing in me apart from Jesus Christ and His righteousness. It also reminds me that I cannot obey my sinful impulses because they will lead to death(God's word warns us of the consequences of obedience to our sinful nature.) But thanks be to God that He is always there to give us a way of escape that we may be able to bear up in this struggle with sin. I love Him so dearly for taking into account this sinful state of mine and pouring His mercy on me, "Where sin abound his grace abounds much more." Have a blest day Francie
