At What Price?

"When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, 'Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.'" Acts 21:12-13

At the price of his personal freedom, even at the price of his life, Paul was determined to do what he believed to be the Lord's will. He would not be dissuaded by the well meaning pleas of friends to do otherwise. Has God called you to do something difficult, even costly? At what price are you willing to do what you understand to be God's will? Do not let the well-meaning pleas of friends or of your own flesh dissuade you from doing what you understand to be God's will. Entrust your self completely to the strong hand of God who calls us and sustains us in His will.

Father, help me to understand Your will and then to be fully determined to do it no matter the price and so unwilling to be turned aside from it by well-meaning pleas. Help me to listen to Your voice then to trust and obey.

I'm praying for you.

  1. Pastor Mark,
I've been reading some stories of believers in Pakistan,China, and other countries that are hostile to believers. They have chosen to suffer for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I take comfort in the fact that this is an example of the type of love I should also have for him. I am praying that I and all believers here in America especially will be willing to suffer for the One who suffered for us. Again, thank you for the encouraging words. Love in Christ Francie
