Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming, Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is Christ.
Ephesians 4:14-15
I always enjoy swimming in the ocean, however there are times when I feel like I am not in control and in those times I have to dig my feet a little deeper into the sand so that I am not being tossed back and forth by the waves. In these two verses, Paul gives us an image of a believer not having their feet firmly dug in and therefore they are being tossed back and forth by any new wave that comes there way. The waves and the wind that Paul is referring to is the deceitfulness of man that tends to pull people away from the church. We are the body and Christ is the head, we should focus not only on our own spiritual growth but we should also be concerened about our neighbor as well. We should not be afraid to reach out and pull those back in who have lost their footing. Paul gives us great example of how in verse 15 when he tells us to "Speak the truth in Love". Is there someone in your connection group that has not been in church, I encourage you to give them a call or write them a letter.
Father, help me to grow in my relationship with you today. Thank you for loving me and I pray that I will love and encourage someone today. Amen
Your Servant
Chris
