"But he [Paul] said, 'Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.'" Acts 21:13 NLT
Paul was convinced it was the Lord's will for him to go to Jerusalem. His friends foresaw danger for him there and pleaded with Paul not to go. But convinced it was God's will Paul was ready to face whatever might come--jail or even death--in order to obey and serve Jesus. Nothing would turn him aside from God's will.
What would it take to turn you aside from God's will? Our enemy is committed to turning God's servants back from doing God's will. He attempted with Christ and failed. He attempted it with Paul and failed. Other times with other people he has succeeded. May he never succeed in our life. If we are to stand and not fall we must stay close to God in prayer and rely on the strength of Christ who alone has the power to overcome the enemy. He will win the victory on our behalf if we will fully commit ourselves to follow Him at any cost. "I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back."
Father, as You make Your will clear to me through Your Word and Your Spirit, may nothing--not even death--turn me aside from doing it. Grant me a holy tenacity that will not be dissuaded by friend or foe from walking with You all the way in Your will.
I'm praying for you.
