“ . . . But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.” Acts 10: 28
Peter’s Jewish roots caused him to have a cultural prejudice against Gentiles. So when God called him to deliver the message of the gospel to Cornelius’ house Peter had to overcome his own personal feelings in order to obey.
The good news of Christ is for everyone! We must be careful not to exclude anyone simply because of their culture, their attitude, their economic-level, their education-level, or their age. Everyone’s need for God is the same. When we, intentionally or unintentionally, ignore certain groups of people because of our personal feelings towards them then we are being disobedient to God.
Your servant,
Matt
Hello Matt,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouragement to see others through the eyes of Jesus Christ, who is no respect of person. As I go into the prison and sometimes on the street with people who are not on my ""so called level in society" I'm humbled by the Holy Spirit when he reminds me that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And then, my desire to share the exciting news of Jesus Christ to these wonderful souls goes up. John 3:16 For God so love the world that WHOSOEVER believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. So, I know that I and everyone no matter who they are, we're all represented in that WHOSOEVER. I do pray that all of the believers will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we are indeed rushing toward the second coming. LOve in Christ Francie
The acceptance of Cornelius was not only a revelation to Peter but it should also open our eyes.We are all GOD's creation, subject not only to HIS laws and commands but also recipients of HIS mercy and love. It's the level of obedience that is displayed by Peter and Cornelius that stands out the most. They received GOD's command and without reservation obey. The mercy and grace we receive demands action on our part.We must not only be consumers but give back what we receive by serving in the body of CHRIST as well as in the community.
ReplyDeleteHoly Father, I give you all honor and praise and thank you for your love and mercy.I pray that I am responding to that love and mercy in a way that pleases you.The example that you gave us through CHRIST to follow was to always be active and doing in order to bring honor and glory to your name.
